Australia’s struggling farmers have received a much-needed boost thanks to the Macarthur community.
The Ingleburn RSL Club’s Father’s Day raffle helped raise $20,000 for Aussies who are most affected by drought.
The club sent an ambitious fundraising target of $20,000 ahead of Sunday’s event with all money going to the Ingleburn Rotary Club and Ingleburn Lions Club’s drought relief appeal.
Ingleburn RSL Club chief executive officer Glenn Cushion said the event reached the organisers’ fundraising target.
Mr Cushion said the event was well attended with participants raising $3500 for the drought relief appeal.
He said Ingleburn RSL would now donate $16,500 to help round out the $20,000 total.
“Thank you to our members and the local community for their great show of support,” Mr Cushion said.
“To raise $3500 was about three times bigger than for our normal raffles. Father’s Day at the club was a success.”
There were plenty of major raffle prizes on offer at the event including a 55 inch Hinsense television and a Ryobi drilling kit.
