Support for MDS

Proudly supporting Macarthur Disability services

Macarthur Disability services is a premier non-profit community organisation in the Macarthur region with operations across South West Sydney and the Southern Highlands. MDS provide a range of services and activities for people with a disability, with a mental illness, the aged, families and carers. Ingleburn RSL Club is proud of our ongoing support for MDS.

Our aim is to continue to support our local community and their efforts to help others through our Club Grants Scheme. Club Grants was built to help local communities, and because of this, we were able to fund $6,490.00 to help support MacArthur Disability Services and their goals to help aid those in need.

Macarthur Disability Services has ten-day program sites, across the Macarthur region. A day program is a centre where adults    with a disability and high support needs, attend.

At these Day Program sites, they run a calendar of daily activities that are designed to be fun and help participants develop skills and confidence.  Each participant has individual goals that they are working towards.

MDS staff are there to support participants to reach these goals. This is done by providing support and resources to practice these skills.

Caitlan Pearson – General manager of marketing and engagement from Macarthur Disability services states through her application that:

We have identified that having an iPad at each Day Program

Centre would be hugely beneficial to our participants. It would enable us to deliver training and support in new ways, that engage the participants and meet their individual communication and sensory needs.

There is much research supporting the use of iPads in Disability Services. An iPad can be used by a variety of people with a variety of disabilities. Just some examples include: To communicate, therapy tool, educational tool or behaviour monitor’. The use of iPads in our services will increase people’s independence and dignity.

After review of the Cub Grant application, Ingleburn RSL Club’s board approved the application and the cash in kind of $6,490.00 will go directly towards the purchase of ten iPads. We are pleased to be able to provide this support to Macarthur Disability services.

MacArthur Disability services are a very important community group, who play an integral role in supporting people with their individual development goals. We take great pride in supporting them achieve those goals. Terry Goldsworthy – President, Ingleburn RSL Club.
