Domestic & Family Violence Awareness

Ingleburn RSL is proud to raise awareness about and help stop domestic violence.

Our initiatives include:
– Establishing our own Domestic Violence Committee and DV Ambassador Team.

– Created our own 3R’s pamphlet that lists a series of Help lines and centres as well as outlining how to recognise and respond to D&FV in real time. 

– Support for Purple Fridays, which is a Clubs for Community project, designed to raise community awareness on a topic that affects 1 in 4 women and 1 in 16 men.

–  DV safe phone collection and information point.

– Escabags collection point.

Escabags

Escabags Ltd is an Australian registered charity who distribute ‘Escape Bags’  to over 2500 collection points around Australia for victims fleeing domestic and family abuse.

Each ‘Escape Bag’ contains high-quality emergency care items so that people fleeing a DV crisis feel comforted and supported. The ‘Escape Bags’ are not gender-specific and, are available in two variations, ‘ A Parent and Child’ and ‘ A Single Adult’. People who find themselves in this situation may come to Ingleburn RSL or Ingleburn Bowling Club’s reception desk and enquire about an Escabag.

DV Safe Phone

Every three minutes, someone in Australia calls for help due to domestic violence – but many victims can’t make that call because their phone has been taken, broken, or is being monitored.

DV Safe Phone repurpose donated phones into safe, untraceable lifelines, helping victims stay connected and access vital support.

We proudly support this initiative and have collection boxes for old phone donations at both Ingleburn RSL and Ingleburn Bowling Club reception desks. Donate your old phone today and help ensure no call for help goes unanswered.

Purple Fridays

In 2025 we worked diligently to train all staff on the 3 R’s of Domestic & Family Violence.

  1. How to Recognise the physical & non-physical signs, 
  2. To Respond respectfully and to ‘Follow their LEAD 
  3. To Refer – using our comprehensive set of resources or one of our DV Ambassadors.

Our DV Ambassador Team are pivotal in actions around the 3 R’s – they have access to DV Safe Rooms with additional care-type resources, should a team member or patron be experiencing DV first-hand and require some care and/or support.

We continue our momentum through Purple Fridays where all staff wear Purple “Say No to DV” shirts, with our very first Purple Friday launched across both clubs on Friday 14th November 2025.

Staff will continue to proudly wear their purple shirts on various Fridays in support of DV victim survivors to send a strong message that we are united in saying ‘NO to DV’.
