ClubGRANTS in the fight against cancer

For children and adults in the Macarthur region dealing with cancer, 24 Hour Fight Against Cancer Macarthur is a blessing. The charity funds services and equipment for local cancer treatment centres to assist in patient treatment, care and comfort. A $5,000 ClubGRANT from Ingleburn RSL Club will contribute to providing comfort for cancer patients and their families at Macarthur Cancer Therapy Centre.

A bigger impact

The team at 24 Hour Fight Against Cancer Macarthur works closely with the local treatment centres to ensure the funds they raise go where they are needed the most. The funds from this most recent ClubGRANT will be used in two ways.

The first is for the purchase of specialised foam cushions for patients undergoing radiotherapy. The cushions help to reduce the pain patients feel when they need to remain perfectly still for prolonged periods of time.

The second is for the purchase of a 3-seater lounge to be placed in the quiet room where doctors and patients have sensitive treatment or care conversations.

Sue McGarrity, Deputy Chairperson & Secretary at 24 Hour Fight Against Cancer Macarthur, says that the ClubGRANT funding is used for high priority items that have a big impact.

“The funds we raise, like this ClubGRANT from Ingleburn RSL Club, go to high priority items that the hospitals wouldn’t be able to otherwise source,” she explains. “If we didn’t have the funding, we wouldn’t be able to provide the level of support that we do.”

True partners

For the team at 24 Hour Fight Against Cancer Macarthur, Ingleburn RSL Club is a true partner in their efforts to raise funds and make a difference.

“Ingleburn RSL Club also has a presence on our fundraising days,” adds Sue. “They register a team and are active participants in the day, which they’ve done for many years. They’re not just providing a ClubGRANTS monetary contribution, they’re actively supporting the work we do.”

“Connecting with and supporting our community is at the heart of what we do,” says Glenn Cushion, Ingleburn RSL Club CEO. “24 Hour Fight Against Cancer Macarthur is a wonderful example of a grassroots charity doing incredible things in the community. We’re proud to get behind this great cause through ClubGRANTS.”
